Learn about the data pack enchantments, their functions and where to obtain them.

The Barely Default enchantments are either original ideas or inspired by Minecraft Dungeons. Below you can find where to obtain the enchantments, what primary items use them, what they might be exclusive to and what their functionality is. Some vanilla enchantments have been tweaked as well.

Impaling

This enchantment now shares the same mechanics as it does in Bedrock meaning it now deals damage to impaling sensitive mobs and mobs in water, rain, and water cauldrons. Damage increase is also nerfed from 2.5 damage to 2 damage.

Infinity

Inspired by the functionality of the infinity enchantment in Minecraft Dungeons, we've gone ahead and given this enchantment a 50% chance to not consume your ammunition.

Beast Surge

Increased the movement speed, movement efficiency, water movement efficiency and jump strength to your pet wolf and horse. 0.25 base movement speed, 0.125 additional movement speed per level. 1 base movement efficiency, 0.5 additional movement efficiency per level. 0.6 base water movement efficiency, 0.1 additional water movement efficiency per level. 0.2 base jump strength, 0.1 additional jump strength per level. Happy Ghasts have increased flying speed: 0.15 base flying speed, 0.10 additional flying speed per level.

20% chance to summon a bee minion when attacking a victim.

Chilling

When the victim wearing this enchantment is attacked, the attacker is given the slowness effect. 2 second base effect, 3 additional seconds per level.

☠️ Curse of Gluttony

Any item that ends up with this curse turns into an item that can always be consumed. Cursed items provide 2 nutrition and 0.4 saturation.

Double Jump

Pressing or holding your jump key after your initial jump grants an additional jump in the air.

Eggstract

When the attacker kills a mob with this enchantment, there is a 10% chance that it will drop it's spawn egg. Slimes and magma cubes however only have a 3% chance to drop their egg.

Experience Rend

At the cost of player experience points, the damage inflicted by the attacker is increased. Requires a minimum of 5 experience levels to deal the extra damage. 1 base damage, 1 additional damage per level.

Exploding

Causes an explosion on impact when the user falls more than 10 blocks, explosion radius is increased the higher the fall. The attacker is not immune to the explosion. Does destroy terrain.

Fast Cast

Decreased the cooldown time of spells cast by staves.

Increases the attack damage against victims that are on fire. 0.5 base damage, 0.5 additional damage per level.

Food Reserves

Periodically consumes food automatically to replenish wearer's hunger. The hunger and saturation given is equivalent to the item consumed. Consumables that give potion effects or have functionality are not consumed.

Gravity

When the victim is hit, they are brought closer to the attacker. Does the opposite of the knockback enchantment.

Gravity Shot

When the victim is hit, they are brought closer to the attacker. Does the opposite of the punch enchantment.

Growing

Increases the scale, attack damage and max health of the player. 0.15 base multiplied size, 0.25 multiplied size at level 2, 0.35 multiplied size at level 3 and 0.5 multiplied size at level 4 (3 blocks tall). 0.5 base attack damage, 0.5 additional per level. 2 base health, 2 additional health per level.

The attacker knocks the victim vertically into the air rather than horizontally which is seen in knockback's functionality.

The attacker has a 20% chance to be given the regeneration effect when dealing damage to a victim.

Provides damage protection against magic types (Indirect magic, magic, sonic booms and wither). 2 base protection, 2 additional protection per level.

At the cost of player health, the damage inflicted by the attacker is increased on the final blow. Requires a charge of 5 stacks (5 hits) to deal the extra damage on the 6th attack. 3 base damage, 3 additional damage per level.
